I was staying in a hotel that (without me knowing!!) was having a little girls beauty contest and I was HORRIFIED by the way moms had dressed these little 5 year old girls. They literally looked like hookers. Why on earth would someone do that to their little girl?

  1. these moms put importance of material, physical things that don't matter. it is awful how they do these little girls. i am sure the kids would rather be playing like normal little girls than dressing up that way. a very sad situation.

  2. Living through them. They make their daughters appear as their inner self image. Most of the time the moms of these girls wouldn't be caught dead wearing the stuff....soooo since they can "get away" with it, they use their daughters as dolls. This isn't always the case, but the majority of the time...it's related to the mom living through the child.

  3. Everyone knows those parents are living through their children. They never felt pretty or wanted, so they want their kids to *win* and be the prettiest. It's so pathetic. ALL of those little girls look 100% cuter without the extensions, make-up, skin tight dresses, high heals and plastered on smile. makes me sick.

My daughter asked to be in a pageant so she could get *dressed up.* I told her, sadly I just can't allow that. I want to support her and do fun things.. but she doesn't understand. *Those* parents are horrible, competitive and down right mean to other children, back stage.

  4. I belive it is okay to allow your child into a TALENT contest, such as piano, ballet, art, ect..because that is what should matter to a parent, not the way they look. But that is just my opinion. Actually, now that I think about it, I vaguely remember a question posted on here a couple weeks ago from someone whose daughter was only seven and in those pageants and there was a fourteen year old boy they claimed was "obsessed" with her and went to all her shows. Creepy. Food for thought.

  5. I would like to know too. They are only little girls for such a short time, why dress them up and make them look older!

  6. because they are sick

  7. Because they're priorities are all f*d up. They're thinking about the attention they will get rather than the child's wellbeing.

  8. because they are sick and vulgar

  9. There's a lot of money to be made in those contests. No different from shlepping your child to modeling agencies.

  10. because they are insecure and want desperately for their children to be talented and beautiful when they aren't.

  11. to live up to their dream of becoming a beauty contestant themselves.  the parents do it to fufill some void they have in their life or from their childhood.

    i think it's stupid.

  12. because they are insecure and want to prove to the world how beautiful their children are as this somehow reflects better on them.  The whole thing is horrible, kids being forced to look like hookers, like you said, can't go outside and play in case they get cuts or bruises.  They spend half their childhood rehearsing and participating in pageants, you can't tell me that any child finds that fun.  My biggest pet peeve is when parents justify it by saying their child wants to do it.  Children like to please their parents, so I'm sure they just say that, no kid would prefer parading around to playing in the park.

  13. because they are sick people who like parading their pre pubescent children in front of the lechs in the audience, making them live out her dream of personal glory.

  14. Living their dreams... through their children.
