  1. so they don't freeze their tail feathers off. and because they can without the airline hassles.  I would fly south if I had wings to avoid winter.


  2. Warmth, go to areas where vegetation is still available, also follow the migrational and gestational cycles of fish and other food.


  3. No conundrum here.  They fly south by instinct to get out of the cold where there is little food for them, to the warm where there is lots of food.
