Why do mosquito's live?

I was bit by a rather large mosquito a few days ago, and a question came into my head."Why do mosquito's live?"i think it's because they eat the insects surrounding it. Also i have herd that bats eat them to. So please leave me an answer and i will answer some of your's. thank !!! you

  1. Mosquitos are one of the oldest insects out there -- right next to the roaches, dragon flies, and others.  Insects, are there as food for other larger insects and animals.  Yes you are right that bats eat them but usually it is the smaller species of bats.  They also are eaten by dragon flies, and their larvae is eaten by fish.

    If you look at why they exist in the medical sense you can call it -- population control.  Early on when vacines were were not to the level they are today, yellow fever, malaria, west nile, and other arboviral (insect borne) diseases killed 100s of people.


  2. the same reason we do. and mosquitos dont eat other insects. they are parasites. after they suck your blood, they lay eggs(atleast i think they do lol).

  3. They live for the same reasons you do; because they're born and survive.  Bats are more interested in moths, but some critters like nibbling mosies..
