Question:

Why do mosquitoes bite women?

It seems like every woman I know gets "eaten alive" by mosquitoes during the summer, while their male counterparts suffer only a few bites...

Why is this? Is there a scientific reason?

  1. Don't think so..I always assumed it was because guys are just more hairy and mosquitoes have a harder time getting to us.

  2. Ahaha! =D Maybe those mosquitoes are males.. ahahax!

  3. Mosquitoes choose who to bite by the pheromones they give off. There is nothing to suggest that they prefer one s*x over the other, or that they prefer a certain blood type - they just go for certain types of pheromones. If you give off the kind they like, you're going to get bitten a lot more than someone who gives off the kind they're not so attracted to. Just as an example, I'm female and I never get bitten, whereas my brother does. I'm also the same blood type as my mother, but whilst they avoid me, they often bite her. I've heard that eating Marmite can put them off biting you - I don't know how true this is, but it's possible it could cause you to give off a scent the mozzies find unpleasant.

  4. no not really only the  female mosquitoes bite because they need blood to develop the eggs.and there is no scientific reason it is just a coincidence.

  5. Because they are sexist.
