if God can do all things...God can lie...if God can lie and does lie would God be God...no...our concept of God is a perfect being...not a genie, a micromanager, a meanie, etc...

  1. From what I can tell, atheists do not think that God exists.  Something that does not exist does not have any limitations.

  2. Hon, atheists don't believe in God.

    I do though!

  3. No dear, that is not what an atheist worth his weight in ink would say at all.

What we do say is that the various attributes believers ascribe to their gods do not hang together well at all. For instance, a god who "knows everything" would be a silly chap if he got upset by how things turn out. After all, he knew it all along. Thus an omniscient god who turns his wrath against mortals for sinning is an absurdity that can only be countenanced by those who would not examine their own premises.

These and other characteristics make the "god of Abraham" incoherent. But remember, atheists don't attribute any of these contradictory traits to any god - you do. You have created the trap for yourself. The only way out is to fall back on the old "He is beyond comprehension." (Yeah, right, that's the ticket!)

  4. I don't think he has limitations, I simply don't believe he exists.

  5. The title 'God', not god, implies omnipotent. Omnipotent means 'unlimited power.'

If someone has limitations he can't have unlimited power.

    You do the math.

  6. They don't believe he exists to begin with....

  7. You mean micromanaging like flooding the planet and destroying cities and generally messing with people's lives?

  8. Umm, atheists don't think your sky daddy has limitations. We think he does not exist, therefore there are no limitations, or abilities. Just your delusions.

  9. Atheists lack belief in gods...

Sometimes we point out logical flaws in people's interpretations of their gods...

(And wasn't god lying when he told Abraham he was going to have to sacrifice his son?)

  10. Your sky pixie is commonly defined as being without limit. Thats what omnipotent and omniscient means.

So, when he CAN'T live up to YOUR side's hype, all we atheists do is point out the hypocrisy on YOUR side.

Since we are free from the delusions that cause people to worship fictional beings...

  11. The definition of a god includes omniscient, omnipotent, and immortal. If your 'god' doesn't match those descriptors, than you should probably call him Mort, or Larry, or Freckles. When you say your 'god' created the universe and everything in it, can keep track of every person's prayers, can see the fall of a sparrow... and then say, Well, 'god' can't do everything... Yeah, call him Larry.

  12. But God is perfect, surely a perfect being wouldn't lie.

  13. God can not be God if he is under any law, he can not have boundaries and certainly would not lie. The world does get him mixed up alot with Satan,They don't seem to understand good from evil.

  14. So why do you guys insist he always tells the truth then?

Really, you're now just admitting that you can't defend your dogma.

  15. Duh your god of the babble is impossible I have proved this many times . written history alone shows that before the babble was written nobody had heard of the genocidal congenital idiot you call god . Please read some good fiction instead of that trash .

  16. Because if God has limitation then he is nothing more than a more powerful being than ourselves.  In which case theists are simply worshiping power.  Which should rightly be quite embarrassing.
