  1. As the Spanish say, 'the English leave their brains at the airport'.

  2. STUPID INNIT!

  3. familiar places....and are you one of these people who have done that..

when i went to aiya napa i went to this bar called london cause id never been to london... so that was my reason...or excuse :)

  4. I agree with you I even think its a good idea to learn a little of their language even if its only to be polite. Gracias

  5. true.

  6. I am not English, but when in Barcelona we did go to an English pub loads!!  I guess it's cause you know what you are getting there and you can comminicate!!!

Where we were in France we went to an Irish pub then an American Style restaurant then on to an Aussie bar!!! Silly really!!

  7. well i guess some people don't go for the culture but for the weather so they stick with the english pubs.

they're not arsed about going to spain as such, just somewhere hot.

it's as cheap as a week in blackpool but probably won't p**s down all week.

personally i stay away from the english bits but i don't go in pubs over here either.

  8. 1. Cheaper beer than in their country?

    2. so they can speak English and don't bother to learn our language or culture

    3. So they can eat Fish&chips and terrible food

    4. Later closing hour than in England (they close at 3 AM in Spain)

  9. They don't, you will generally find its the Irish and Welsh which do.

  10. I do think there is some genetic make-up, forcing English youth to act like English youth in, say, Marbella. The same happens with Dutch tourists, wanting to buy that one specific wooden shoe made in Padua, or the French kid, obtaining a croissant in Budapest.

Basically, we don't want to go abroad, we just want the same things we can get at home, only a little bit less cheap, to prove we could indeedly (i know) afford our holidays this year.

  11. Not me i taught myself  enough Spanish to get by and we drink with the locals when we go to Spain and if you make the effort to learn the language you are made so welcome. Like you i can't understand why people go to Spain just to sit in an English bar.

  12. That is a bloody good question!! Prob coz they can speak the same language. My dad goes in tho coz they are the ony 1's which show the city matches, n thers always 1 wen we go abroad!!!!

  13. i c ur point...but its because of what they are familiar with and the lingo...we dont like to try do we ?

  14. Basically because they are English!! As a nation we are totally resistant to change/integration etc You wanna see the real country? Don`t go to Benidorm/Tossa(aptly named)/ Marbella etc hire a car & drive inland - incidentally this applies to ANY country you visit. Just look for the tattoos, football shirts & Burberry gear then avoid it like the plague - thickos congregate with thickos ( then fight the Germans or shout at the waiters `cos they don`t speak English)

  15. In some areas the majority of bars are run by the English

  16. They want to eat and drink like they do back home

    BUT

it's a heck of a lot cheaper on the Costa del Grot than in Bognor, and warmer and dryer too.

    Basically, that's it.

  17. I could answer this with another question

Why do people visit Mc Donnalds or Burger King when they are in another country.?

They know what to expect from the food

When English people visit an English bar, whether it is in Spain or another country it is for a number of reasons.

    1. Their favourite beer or drink might be displayed on the notice board and it is not always the cheapest. Take for instance WKD its more expensive in Spain than in the UK but people still buy it

2.Looking for information. Where can I get a bet on? Where is the nearest train station/taxi? Where is the best place to buy cigs/spirits. How would I go about buying a bar, how  did you start your business?Any question you can think of they ask it.

    3. Reccommendation, whether its from a flier left in the hotel room or from a friend

    4. Many British bars display the area they come from. It could be the Lancashire Bar,Yorkshire Inn, Welsh Bar, Irish Bar, or have relavance to their local football team like the Liverpool Bar, The Gunners, The Reds Bar, The Blues Bar etc.etc.etc.Sorry no room to name them all.

People will enter bars because they think they will feel comfortable in them and want to be able to converse with the people in there.

    5. They may know the owners, or have had good service in the past and want to return

    6. They could have mobility problems and the English bar might be the nearest.

    7. Language, or lack of a foreign one will entice the British into a British bar.The younger element can go to a disco, they all dance to the same music, so therefore they dont have the same inhobitions as the older generation.

8.Families with young children will go to a British bar because usually their catering needs will be met ie, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, egg & chips etc, and  happy kids = happines for everyone.

There are many more reasons why Brits visit a British bar but thats not to say that they don't contribute towards the Spanish economy.

Many go out on day trips organised by their hotels and visit large ventas or places of interest because they feel comfortable being shown by someone who knows.

Others are more adventeurous and hire a car and go further inland, but I have to say this is only a small % because in Spain they drive on the opposite side to the Brittish

Lastly I have to say that you will meet the disruptive (usually younger but not always) element with their rowdy and drunken behaviour and this is due to a lack of social skills being taught, or lack of opportunity to teach them when younger. But please don't steriotype all Brits into this category

  18. Dunno the answer to this one but I think they are related to the people who go abroad & never go further than the pool!!!!!!!

Why do people go abroad if they are not interested in seeing the country,& sampling the food & culture?

Travel is supposed to broaden your horizons but not if you take a narrow mind with you !!!!!!!!!!

  19. Have you seen Most of the English people in Spain then! Or have you seen some English people in a small part of spain?

  20. I have no idea why!
