Why do most people walk using the right foot first?

Because most people are right side dominant.  That may be true for other animals as well.

Lack of military training.  In marching, you step off with the left foot first.  After a while it becomes natural.  However, I do agree with your observation that most people without that training start with right foot. And, I agree with the "right side dominant" answer given.

The right side of our brain controls the left side of our body and is the creative side of the brain.  Hence, you will notice that left-handed people are more talented in the arts.  Right-handed people are more compliant.  Take notice as you watch tv of so many left-handed actors, musicians, singers, writers, etc.
