Why do most vampire stories take place in Texas?

A lot of books that i have read (i read a lot) that have to do with Vampires, the majority of them all take place in Texas. Is there a specific reason for this?

  1. i don't know what books your are talking about but maybe there is a lot of vampire activity in texas? it's possible.

  3. Two reasons actually.  Much of the money in the US is in Texas, so this is a fairly easy place to describe the lives of the Rich and Famous.  

    Second, It's just a good setting for stories about murder.  When you are telling vampire stories you are telling stories with a lot of deaths and murders.  These were also aspects of many gunslinger stories when Westerns were more popular than they are today.  Such tales, those with a high body count, exactly tend toward  morality plays.   And they fit so well into that background I've talked to Texans who say they prefer stories which are morality plays.  They do have a "calvinist" culture.
