About 90% of the time, when riding in a vehicle w/ my guy, he always speeds up as someone is trying to pass in the passing lane? What's the deal-e-o?

  1. because i need to assert my dominance over other people on the road.. I think its sub conscious

  2. ima female driver.

    i speed up :]

  3. testosterone, and wanting to look cool mostly...but most cool people drive slow in their maybacs...lol

  4. Pansy control freaks.

I'm no spiritual Guru, but treat others as you would want to be treated. I usually slow down a bit as I'm being passed, to avoid head-on collisions in the mountainous two-lane area where I live. This allows the pass to happen quickly. I also let tailgaters pass.

People should react the way they expect others to, on the road.

Speeding up when someone tries to pass you is dangerous and arrogant. All of a sudden they want to drive fast? If the person was driving fast all along, they wouldn't be getting passed.

These are probably the same people who slow down when you tailgate them. Tailgating is wrong, but if you are going 50mph, and all of a sudden you come up on someone doing 45, you automatically wind up a bit close. Then that person thinks it's a good idea to drop it down to 35. That is another immature move. That is usually done by the same person who speeds up when you are trying to pass them. It is a control issue, and they want to control your speed.

The reason I let tailgaters pass, is I don't know if they are in an emergency situation. I had to drive an animal to the Vet, that was bleeding to death recently. I think if someone dropped down to 35 in front of me, or sped up when I tried to pass them, I would have had to try very hard to not run them off the road.

Once again, drive as you would want others to.

  5. its called male ego.  can't stand to have anyone beat them and they have no patience.    remember patience is a virtue seldom found in a woman and never in a man.

  6. Women do it as well. But MEN are more apt to take it as a THREAT to their manhood...........being overtaking by another vehicle..........it is INSECURITY plain and simple........and MEN are more insecure about their so-called MANHOOD than women are about being WOMEN..

  7. Testosterone, and a need to impress, especially if the other driver is in a better car.

Some women are the same (we have testosterone in our bodies too)!

Which I think is sad really, as I am far more impressed by a skilled driver no matter what car they drive, and I've seen some idiots even driving Aston Martins - shame really.

  8. cuz dats the way it is !!!!!!!!!!!! boyz do that duh

  9. They like to show off and be cool. They are ignorant people.

  10. because we can. its a guy thing. women do it too.

  11. He thinks he's a racecar driver.

  12. Because my boyfriend thinks he's Lewis Hamilton (yeah right).

I sometimes do it, especially if it's a bloke doing it to show off!

  13. It's a competition thing, happens to female drivers too! Sometimes the faster driver makes you realize you're going slow so you speed up. In Europe that's illegal, you have to let the other driver pass first.
