Why do mothers try to raise their sons as their boyfriends instead of their sons? When will they let go?

It seems that today whenever you meet men (younger or older) that their mothers don't want to let them go to start a relationship with a woman.

I have 4 daughters and 1 son and i have raised them equally..not letting go of any of them is just a mothers thing..and your boyfriend comment?  do you have a son?

Are you referring to mothers who have sons that are young adults and that act like they always need them for something?   If she calls her son everyday to chat then that could be a problem if he has a wife and kid.

The son needs to speak up if he feels like he's being pulled in 2 directions.

Be more specific but it sounds like you are referring to mama's boys.
