Why do moths fly at people, are they attacking you or a bit dumb

  1. they're trying to get to the light, it's like a strobe to them and it makes them go crazy...if you watch, it's not just you they bump into, they bump into everything in their random flight (god, i wish i was a moth right now...)

  3. The vast majority of moth species do not fly at people.  They are not dumb, neither are they smart.  Many insects are attracted to people for various reasons: color, odor, heat and sweat.

  4. Moths are attracted to light.  (Phototropism is the big word for attreacted to lightt.)  Your face or light colored clothing may be attracting them.  Try a few small experiments to see if this is it.  Use dark clothes and then cover one side of yourself with a white towel.  Count the hits.

    By most definitions, except, I guess, a moth's, yes, they are a bit dumb.
