Why do motorcycles skid?

hi friends lets discuss something about safety.

why do motorcycles skid?

pls giv ur feedback..

1.the rear tyre skids when u apply rear brakes too suddenly(yes/no)

2.does the rear skid when u apply front brake(or rear) without clutch?

3.does applying a bit more of front break more than rear reduce chances of skidding?

4.heavier the bike,broader the tire less the chances of skidding?(yes/no)

5.precautions to be taken when moving over wet roads,sand/cement,tram tracks.

1.  It is not how sudden you apply the brake, but how much you apply the brake.

2.  The rear tire will not skid if you apply the front brake.

3.  You should always use more front brake because most of your braking comes from the front brake.  Also, when you slow suddenly, the weight shifts forward and the rear tire skids even easier.

Both 2, 4 and 6 wheelers skied. Skidding is the uncontrolled motion of any vehicle.

            Basically the vehicle skids because the brakes lock the wheel.  2 wheelers skid more b'coz they have less road contact. and loss balance faster.

4. Heavier the vehicle and wider tyre provide more traction and control.

5. Keep the bike as steady as possible, keep the momentum and apply slight brakes to scuff the wet off the brakes.

               Always ware helmet and hard jackets if you are riding at speeds.

2 front brake will not normally affect rear wheel, unless riding near the limits of traction.

4broader the tyre on dry road, yes, heavier bike, no.

5 keep speed modest, steady throttle, and good tryes & pressures.  Hit tram tracks etc as square on as possible to avoid slipage.  be careful on white paint, it's slippery, esp when wet.  cement give good grip, unless oil fouled.  sand is prone to move under the tyre, and allow the wheel to bog if dry.
