Why do music channels on the radio have such limited playlists?

I don't think it's acceptable that they play Leona Lewis and Take That what seems like 20 times a day.

P.S. Nothing against them but you can have too much of a good thing.

Any suggestions other than Magic, Heart, Virgin FMs?

  1. It is ridiculous but the main reason for this is money. Any record label wanting to get their material on the radio goes through a radio plugger who has had a long standing association with the radio station.

Radio Pluggers cost money and it just so happens that the major 4 record labels have the majority of the money.

To cut a long story short all the big radio stations are at the mercy of the large record labels so if EMI want virgin to play take that 20 times a day they will.

As for suggestions other than the normal radio stations i can only think of internet radio stations like pandora, deezer etc..

xfm is ok but as they're getting bigger you'll notice them being more and more repetitive with their playlists. hope that helped

  2. you have your answer with the guy or girl above me,

it is sad but it is commanded my money these days

  3. You're absoloutely right, I can't listen to them for very long without going mental. Radio 1 is the best as far as I'm concerned. They only repeat 1 or 2 songs throughout the 9-5 working day. 2-Ten FM is just the worst!

  4. I'm a big fan of Xfm London, and on the net Kroq. They have limited playlists because the artists most likely have some sort of affiliation with the station. As in, if the station frequently plays the bands music, the band will most likely advertise the radio station.

  5. Virgin is begining to drive me inzane, If I hear "Scouting for Girls" one more time,¬!!

and Magic is nearly worse, every night practically the same songs,
