Question:

Why do my SD channels sound better than my HD channels?

I have an HD TiVo, and my SD (standard definition) channels sound better than my HD (high definition) channels. When I had just my cable hooked up, it was the other way around (HD better than SD), the way it should be. Help!

  1. It all depends how you pass audio and the audio capabilities of the receiver.

It could be that your TV had a better Dolby digital decoder than Tivo (for example 2.1 channels before 2.0 now).

If you use HDMI, set the Tivo to pass audio to the TV in PCM than in Dolby Digital. (or if that is what you have, try DD)
