Why do my auxiliary cables wear out so fast?

It's like every month I have to replace them. They work fine for a few weeks and then it starts to not play music unless the wire is bent to an angle.

  3. Is it wearing out at the input jack to your stereo, or at the headphone jack of your portable device?

If it's happening at the input jack, you might try to find a way to route the cable so there's less strain on it.  Maybe tuck it behind a dash panel so there's just a few inches coming out and it stays stationary all the time.  Your head unit might have an option for a rear-mounted auxiliary adapter; if so, it might last longer.

If it's happening at your portable device, invest in a mounting bracket so your player can be placed in an easy-to-use location, and doesn't get moved around all the time.  Check out http://www.bracketron.com for custom vehicle brackets.

Consider investing in a Bluetooth adapter system for a completely wireless connection between your portable player and the stereo. http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/21...
