My 3 year old cherry tree has produced lots of cherries but for the last 2 years as they are ripening they have split. The first year the fruit was fine. Why is this?

  1. I think it's related to high rainfall just as the fruit is finishing ripening.  Usually cherries are still good if they split, just not so pretty.  If you've had tons and tons of rain, you might have problems with mold and pests too though.

  2. It is from over watering. All the extra water causes the cherry to split.
