Why do my computer speakers crackle when I use my Windows Media Player?

I hear a crackling sound like the speakers are busted, but when I am on youtube, the sound plays clearly. When I use the Windows Media Player or put in headphones it sounds horrible. What is the deal?

You gotta check your sound controls!!!! Check if they have been moved around. It's easy. Or if that doesn't work. make sure that sounds on your media player isn't blasting out sound.. Simple enough ?
