My 2 german shepherds catch ground hogs every so often and they will play with it for alittle then they will share it to eat but when my 8 month siberian husky comes near they will not share then when they are done one of them will guard the dead ground hog and the other one will dig a hole and they will barry it. They never do go back to it but why do they do all of that. Like not share with my siberian husky but they share with eachother? Play with it before eating it and they barrying it. Also is it okay that i let them do this?

  1. if The 2 German shepherds Grew up together They may consider the husky in a different pack

  2. It is probably the fact that they are an established pack, and they see the new husky as inferior.  Dogs don't share their special things with lower members of the pack. Thats just the way it is. When the puppy has been around for a while longer, they may accept him as more of an equal playmate, but no promises.

  3. You don't say what s*x the dogs are so I'll ignore s*x.

The GSD must be dog 1 and 2 in the pack the bottom dog or omega is no doubt the SH. There's always a hierarchy in a pack. Normally the Alpha male and the Alpha female eat first while the other wait. Then Beta's down to Omega. This keeps the best dogs/wolves healthy. As to why they bury the carcass, I can only guess, the pack would normally share the food but because you have dogs not wolves they may not follow the rules exactly, or they just really like ground hog so keep it for themselves.

  4. they don't accept the husky as equal playmate but later they probably will and they don't share with the new members of the house its what they do and they barry it as if it was a bone mine does that but never goes back to it. dogs learn to batty everything. just give it time and all will come into hand with everything.
