I then clean the contact lens a lot moreby rubbing it with my fingers and the burning sensation goes away. What should I change to not get the sensation?

  1. Maybe you need to look into using a different kind of cleaning solution.  You might want to talk to you doctor about this.

  2. sometimes if your fingers are not clean enough and you use them to rub the contacts and put them in...it causes the burning sensation....I once put in my contacts after eating really spicy food....I didn't wash my hands properly and....I had a h**l of a time!

  3. Good chance it's an allergic reaction to the lens.  I had the same issue.  Does your eye also dry out and the lens turn gooey?  Could also be the contact solution being used, but that would have a better chance of burning as soon as you put the lens back in.

It took me 3 different types of contact lenses before I found a pair that were not too bad.

  4. I doubt that it is allergic, but need to know a little more.  You say that cleaning the lenses fixes the burning sensation.  How long does it take for the burning sensation to return?  Does it only happen when you first insert the lenses into your eyes?  Is it OK at first and then worsen late in the day?  Do they burn after you remove your lenses?  Do you routinely wear your lenses overnight?

Give me some answers, and maybe we can get to the bottom of this.

    EDIT AFTER MORE INFORMATION:

Your additional information seems to indicate a lens that is becoming tight after a few hours of wearing, a lens that does not transmit enough oxygen to your eyes when only minimal lens deposits occur, or a lens that dries out.  Regardless of which preceding condition exists, I would switch lens materials or adjust some lens parameters.  You should contact the person who fit these lenses to you.  They should see you after you have worn the lenses for a few hours.  Again, this is not an allergic reaction.
