Question:

Why do my eyes look crossed when I wear my glasses?

Whenever I wear my glasses, my eyes look kind of crossed. I've noticed it and several people have pointed it out.

Why is this? My vision is fine -- I never actually see things cross-eyed. My eyes just appear to be slightly crossed.

If it's relevant, I have Myopia, and my prescription is -7.

Can anyone tell me why my eyes look like this?

Thank you very much.

  1. It could actually be that your glasses prescription isn't quite where you need it to be. As in the center of focus is not in the right spot for your eyes. That's the only thing I could think of, my glasses used to that to me, until the doctor actually bothered to measure where the lens needed to be centered.

All the pairs I've gotten in the last few years have been fine.

  2. Are both eyes looking crossed or is it just one in particular?

I was thinking it might be the frame making it "look" like your eyes are crossed.  Like if your eyes are somewhat close together, the frame takes away the appearance of the nose ridge and the eyes look crossed.

Since you're highly myopic, it could be that it's just the way the lenses curve that is having that affect.  (iow, your friends are seeing your eyes through glasses going the opposite direction and probably at some angle.)

My husband's sister wears "coke-bottle" glasses and always looks like her eyes are crossed.  After taking a physics class and learning about lenses, I figured that was what was going on with her.  (She wore wire frames which negates my first theory.)

  3. My eyes do this. When I asked my eye doctor about it, he said it was just the way my eyes were.

I've never exactly been confident in my eye doctor's abilities, though.

  4. well shes a girl doctor so just try to ask...it's prolly something they can give u contacts so it still doesnt look like that.
