Why do my fingers hurt while swimming freestyle/breaststroke?

while swimming laps my fingers begin to get sore to the point I have to stop after swimming they are fine

try cupping your hands so that when you swim with force, your fingers tips not only slap the water hard but dont rush the blood to the tips....much like spinning aorund in a circle with your arms extended
