Why do my fingers swell up in large shopping centers?

My wife and I went to the Trafford Center in Manchester today. After afew minutes inside we both noticed that our fingers had swelled up! As soon as we left, a few hours later, both of our hands started to return to normal.

Anyone know why? Is it to do with a lower pressure inside the large shopping center?

  1. I think it might have something to do with the shops being warmer inside than the weather outside. This causes the blood flow to speed up. I'm thinking in terms of the biology i know. =)

    Hope this helps!

  2. It could be the heat, these centres can be quite hot.

  3. WHen your walking, are you hands at your sides or hanging?  the blood flow down is ever so slightly higher then the flow out, nothing bad, but it can cause a bloated appearance, the same thing happens to elderly people while they walk over long distances, thats why some swing their arms.
