Why do my friend's parents judge my relationship?

Ok, my friend and I are both in relationships with hispanic men and we are both white. However, My friends parents told her that my relationship is disgraceful, but they said it was fine for her b/c her boyfriend has lighter skin. Now, her bf does have light skin, but his features are still very hispanic (black hair, hispanic face structure, dark eyes, shorter ), and people in his family are just as dark as my boyfriend. Why is it OK for her, but not Ok for me. I don't understand their way of thinking. Can someone please give me some advise, I love my boyfriend more than anything and hate when people judge us. Oh yeah, we also live in the south. Thanks!

The times are new. They just need to get over it. Tell them to F*ck off.

don't worry about what they think, they are prejudiced. they think that because her boyfriend is lighter that it is more acceptable by society.  If they stay together and have children in the future that child has a propensity to be darker like his other family members.  Just love your boyfriend for who he is and don't worry about what they think or anybody else.
