Why do my glasses smell weird?

First of all, by glasses, I mean the kind you drink from.

We've had them for about 3 years, and moved after the first. After about 6 months of living in our new house, I realized the glasses smell really bad. I don't know if it's my scent kicking in after a year and a half, or the glass type, or the cupboard? The other cupboards don't smell though.. Could it be some kind of bug eggs? Or the water from the tap?

Haha, I'm confused.

*On the bottom of the glasses it says something like 'Bormioli Rocco' and 'Temperred', if it helps.

  1. It's probably residue from the water at your new home.  If the water has a lot of chmicals in it, it will leave a scent.  Does your tap water stink too?

  2. .Tried to wash the class with a Little bit of Clorox.

  3. maybe its what the glass is made from try another brand of glass and see if thats the same if it isnt its the brand at fault if thats the case contact them and tell them you want to lodge a complaint.

  4. Are you storing them upside down on their rims? If so, try storing them right-side up for air circulation. Or take a couple of glasses, wash them normally, and leave them out on the counter. Once they're dry, do they still smell?

  5. put a little bleach in your dishwater

  6. Remove your glassware from the cabinet.  Get someone else to smell the cabinet to see if they detect an odor.  Wash it out anyway, wipe it with white vinegar,  and allow it to air dry.

Meanwhile, wash all your glassware in hot water.  If you have a dishwasher, hit the sanitize  button.  This is a good time to ask if the inside of your dishwasher is clean?  Have you removed food particles from the washing arms? Is the gasket clean?  Are there stains in the dishwasher from hard water?  If so, purchase one of the products designed to clean the dishwasher and use it--without the glassware in  there.

If  you're hand washing, use the hotest water you can stand(wearing rubber gloves helps), and rinse in water with a bit of white vinegar in it, say 2 oz. per gallon.  Dry with a clean towel.

Then store them right side up.  Good luck. Hope it's not the cabinet. You could have water in the wall from a leak somewhere. That would produce a musty smell.
