Why do my male cockatiels do this?

When my cockatiels are hyper or having fun, they go over to the cage and bite loudly on the bars. This is usually when they finish whistling or singing. They both do it at the same time. This usually goes on for several minutes. What does this mean? Why do they do this?

    sometimes two males or females will act like a mating pair

    A female could take the place of a male or a male a female

    so its eiter a sign of courtship or a sign of get me OUT OF HERE!!
