  1. They are afraid that the offspring might be ugly.

This is a very conscientious bird.

  2. You don't say whether the eggs are together, or separate, or if it one hen or all.

I think there could be several reasons.  One or more of the hens is/are feeling broody, I think that would be more likely if the eggs are together in one clutch.

It may be to protect the eggs from predators, on the ground (including you), or airborne.

  3. What do you expect? Maybe they just got tired of repeatedly laying them and you coming and getting them!

  4. h**l

Poor hen do not have Incubator. So it lays Eggs  and Bury.

Wait and small Hens come out  sik sik ////////////////////////////// sik.

  5. to keep them warm and safe from preditors this could also keep them incubated

  6. You sure it wasn't the Easter bunny popping by?

seriously though if they are all in the same place you may have a broody hen collecting them to lay on.

  7. Safe from predators, may help to keep eggs incubated.
