Why do my parents get mad at everything I say? ?

Today, I asked my dad where he put the camera, and he yelled at me saying he had no idea. Whenever I ask my mom if I can go out with my friends, she blows up at me and hides in her room. Whenever I simply ask my dad a question, he thinks I'm yelling at him, and he's like, "I don't like your tone of voice!!! Stop being so rude!!", and slams the door. Like this, they get mad at me for absolutely nothing, and I'd like to think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not.

This has happened ever since I was a child, and though my parents did a lot for me as a child, I could never say a word to them without being yelled at. hence, I never really talked much at home, because I knew they would get mad at me--even when I apologized for whatever I did. After observing my friends' parents, I think of how lucky they are--their parents are so funny, happy, and supportive all the time. Instead, mine are INCREDIBLY overprotective and moody.

How can I deal with this, instead of bottling up anger and throwing pillows across my room every time I get yelled at?

  1. hm.... well. have you ever consider the fact that they are bi-polar? next time they yell at you i'd probably yell back that i don't deserve this. u don't have to do that but its ur choice. tell them they'll lose you forever if it continues. tell a friends parent.

  2. understand that they are in the wrong. tell them how you feel. or write it and put it on the counter. as for the negative energy, put it toward drawing or writing.

  3. maybe they are going tru a rough time. just try to talk to them and tell them how you feel, i hope they understand. good luck!!
