  1. Do you mean Hens and Chicks?  The parent plant (Hen) always dies off..I don't know why..that's just the way the plant is.  You are then left with all the "chicks" that eventually become Hens too and the cycle continues.

  2. too much water they are succulents.

  3. I agree, too much water, you have to be cruel to be kind to them! The person above me was right as well, only the name of the pot is called a "strawberry pot", (an urn with cups cut in the sides of them) besides strawberries, that is the traditional planter hens and chicks are kept in.

  4. Try a new terracotta pot - you know, the ones with the holed in the sides

  5. Yep, you killed your Hens and Chicks by overwatering them.  It's a common mistake most non-desert dwellers commit.

Hens and Chicks are succulents and succulents need very little water to survive.  Overwatered succulents bloat with water, and then rot from diseases caused by the "drowning."

  6. Probably too much water. They are desert cactus plants and need very little water.

  7. I have had those for years, I thought they were indestructible...lol  mine have lived forever and I do nothing with them. I do know they require little soil, no fertilizer, and not to over water them. I placed mine in a huge rock with holes and just a little bit of dirt, 15 years ago, they have lived through ice storms, 20 below , hail, 110 degree summers, and they just keep going.

I think I was told they come in hardy and non hardy varieties, maybe you need the hardy variety.
