I am 15 years old and i run cross-country at school. I have been running xc since 7th grade and never had this problem. When start my warm - up run, my shins and ankles start to hurt and also after i stop, my ankles and shins start to hurt pretty bad also. I was wondering if anybody knew what the problem is and if there are any ways to stretch my ankles and shins out before. I will add info if there are any questions

-Thanks

  1. It could just be shin splints, try getting new shoes or buying inserts for your current ones.

  2. you got shin splints, which happens when you train your body too fast. make sure you stretch out your calf muscles thoroughly before running. afterwards, ice your legs and wrap them up tight. to stretch out, lean forward against a wall standing up with the stretched leg sticking out further. good luck
