i have two kicker cvt12 shallow mount subs 800w max each.

i have a 1500w amp and all is hooked up to my factory radio which is a bose 6 disc changer. i had best buy install a rca adapter to my truck , 04 avalanche, so that my amp may be hooked up to my factory system. i got home and threw in my box with the 12" kickers and they knock but they sound like regular speakers as well. also if i put my windows down i can hear it in my subs. im taking it back to best buy to see what they say but id like to know if anyone knows why and if i could fix it. its Pizzing me off that it sounds like garbage. i had a head unit and 10" sony installed in my girls aztek and it sounds great. just bass no music comeing out of it and no voices. thats what i want in my truck. any thoughts. oh i didnt change my head unit cuz id have to buy a 100 part for it to work in my truck plus i dont want to lose the controls on my wheel.

  1. sounds like the crossover on the amp is set to high, it should be on low (or mid), or they hooked the line output converter up to the wrong set of speaker wires (tweeters)- it should be connected to the rear speaker wires

if that's not it maybe the box is way too small or "leaking"

  2. Crossover frequency in your amplifier is no set set correctly. Come back to bestbuy and they can adjust it... You can do it yourself too.

  3. did you check to make sure that  the low range setting of your amp was turned on ? cause if its set in the mid range you WILL get bass but also a little voice recoil with it? which makes it sound like regulular speakers, another trouble shooting effort is the freq that you have the amp set at, which might make it pick up certain parts of bass but not others.....
