Why do my sweet peppers begin rotting near their bottoms (turning brown)?

I'm growing sweet peppers- I noticed this on some peppers but not others. Whats going on??

  1. perhaps a fungi? you should bring one of them into a local nursery or plant store to find out what it may be. there's also a possiblilty that you've overwatered them. make sure you let the ground dry out before watering again.


  2. That might be blossom-rot.  It means they are not getting an even amount of water, either too much or too little.  Blossom rot can also be caused my not getting enough calcium in the soil.  I think there are actual plant or soil additives that you can buy, at Home Depot or the like.
