  1. Likely its hard water. A lot of minerals disolved in the water.  You could try a water softener that attaches to your water main, which will also reduce the amount of soap you need to use. Your hair will be softer and use less shampoo.

Or try using a fabric softener in the rinse cycle of your wash, and/or dryer sheets.

  2. There's this product you can buy, called Fluffy Tumble Dryer Sheets they are like impregnated leaves of something. You put one in the dryer with your towels maybe every two or three washes, and it keeps them soft. Works. It's usually somewhere near all the fabric conditioners and stuff like that in the supermarket.

  3. Try giving your towels extra rinse or two, maybe there is still too much detergent in your towels. Also when you hang them out give them a shake before you hang each individual towel.

  4. I also have a front load washing machine , but I have found no detergent that is going to make towels soft when drying them on the line.  The trick that I do is put my towels straight into the clothes dryer and they come out nice and soft !

  5. You may want to try adding 1/2 cups Vinegar to the wash...this will help remove any build-up from detergent or fabric-softeners. Also, give your towels several good shakes before hanging, this really can improve their softness. If you think your water is too hard (too many minerals) you can add washing soda (Arm & Hammer sells it) to the laundry....and, try cutting the amount of detergent you use...most manufacturers recommend too high an amount. 6. try washing soda in your wash

  7. I find I have this problem in the summer months but not in the cooler months of the year. It may be because they are over dried?

  8. What you need to do is:

    1) Wash them as you normally do first.

    2) Hang them on the line until they almost dry (but not dry enough to put away)

    3) Tumble dry them until they are dry.

    They will be SO soft!

    Hope this helps!

  9. it happens to me too, there is nothing you can do, they dry hard because they air dry, the only way you'll get them fluffy is in the dryer, because what makes them fluffy is the hot air tumbling...

If you do find out though, let me know!

  10. they get still because you line dry them,

  11. as long as you use fabric softner they shouldnt dry hard try downy

  12. Just use a fabric softener that would find really helpful.

  13. Try white vinegar instead of laundry softener. It works wonders for me

  14. Most likely it is caused by hard water (high calcium mineral content), I haven't tried it but Lea (answer above) is probably onto something because the acid in the vinegar would help to "dissolve" the minerals.
