Why do my watermelons keep splitting?

I'm growing a garden with watermelons. There were four actual fruits, but three of them split down the middle, what would cause this?

It comes from not watering them consistently, if they get a lot of water at once and then dry out it will cause that, just get them on a regular daily schedule.

As you know the watermelon is 87% water. Splitting is due to water deprivation during fruit set will cause splitting on many fruits and most commonly the home tomato gardner will experience this phenomenon
