Why do nadal have to wait to become number 1

nadal will defintely be no 1 but why does it have to depend which stage he has proceeded in the cincinnati?

because in order for nadal to take over fed, he has to win the tourney

He need to win more games to gain points. He'll have gain enough points to overtake Federer if he wins in the Cincinati final on Sunday.

Federer was crushed out by Croatian Ivo in the last 16.

Doesn't matter.  Most people feel he's number one anyway.
