  1. They expect you to buy all the wires and connectors separately.  That way, the store makes more money.

    I also keep extras of everything on hand in case this happens. You can't always tell by the box what is contained inside with the vcr.  Good luck.

    You need a coaxial cable.


  2. By law, any device sold in the US with a TV Tuner, needs to have a new Digital tuner.  This adds a lot of cost to the device, and since you can't record digital anyhow, they sell now VCRs with NO tuners. You can still record from the Line in ports, but you need a converter box.

    It is better to buy a DVD recorder or PVR though. Analog tape is on its way out.
