Why do none of the budgeters include a rehearsal dinner?

Where does this fit into the budget? What does your budget look like? I made mine based on theknot.com and noticed it was missing the rehearsal dinner!

Any tips on how to create my own budget?

Usually the grooms family covers the rehearsal dinner.

The rehearsal dinner is usually hosted (and paid for) by the groom's parents. Sometimes the couple may choose to pay for the party, or it may be a collective effort by both sets of parents. The party can be formal or completely casual and does not need to be based on your wedding style (formal wedding doesn't mean formal dinner).  Follow these steps to devise a budget.

Decide the total amount of money you will be spending on the rehearsal dinner.

Decide on the type of rehearsal dinner you will have. Keep in mind that buffet dinners are more expensive that sit-down dinners.

Decide on the location of the rehearsal dinner.

Decide on the types of alcoholic beverages you will (or will not) serve and whether or not you or your guests will pay for those beverages.

Meet with the manager of the location of the dinner.

Find out how much various types of menus cost.

Once you have all of this information, you will be able to decide how many people you can invite to the rehearsal dinner. Divide the total number of money you will be spending on the dinner by the amount of the dinner and beverages. The answer to this math problem is the number of guests you will be able to invite to the rehearsal dinner.

Probably because traditionally, the groom's parents host and pay for the rehearsal dinner.

Probably because traditionally, the parents of the groom pay for the rehearsal dinner.  But there are plenty of us who are paying for it ourselves (like me).
