  1. Probably because there are many more professional league teams in the North of England than there are Union teams, and vice versa in the South. Not sure pie eating and peasants have anything to do with it though....

Personally I prefer Union, but League can be a pretty flowing game at times, just like Union can be static. Depends on the circumstances

  2. first off all its a more brutal game, second of all union is not free flowing at all.

  3. Because they like pies and rugby league. Nothing wrong with that you nitwit.

  4. I'm from Australia and i think rugby league is more flowing than rugby union, in union they tend to take penalties and field-goal chances more, but I am not saying that all teams are like that. Both codes can score some fantastic tries but they have to encourage union players to score, hence the bonus point. There are some league players in England from Australia who play well over there because the ground is soft, but when they come back down under they just don't play the same..

  5. rugby union is a slow boring game for big pratsy boys

    Leauges faster,harder.better.stronger,

  6. Why are southerners so ignorant?

I'm from the North East and all we have here is Union. So shove it up your poncy southern ****.

  7. Union is played in Public ( Our private schools ) in England so people with money get the exposure to the game.

  8. union more free flowing, you must have been dropped on yer head when you were ababy,

  9. Oops - you've forgotten that this is the internet and not some English site. Northern? You mean northern Europe? Do they play Rugby League in Norway? Do they eat pies in Iceland?

  10. Its simple League is a much tougher much more exciting game and a family game. All they do in union is get the ball and kick it how boring. So obviously you must be a southeren p***y,get a life.

  11. As an American who's new to rugby, I find league a lot more "flowing" than union. No rucks, no mauls, no lineouts, not as many scrums. Someone gets tackled, you get up and scoot the ball back to a teammate, and play keeps going. Don't get me wrong; I like watching both league and union, but I don't agree with your premise at all.

  12. why do americans prefer american football to soccer? it's whatever your brought up on!! simple as pie!!

  13. I'm a pie-eating pesant, but I prefer rugby union.

Nothing wrong with league though, you just play what you were first introduced to.

  14. I can't believe that this is a question, its a no contest.

Yawnion is just a kick and clap game, where as League is fast flowing.

A Yawnion game can be 26-26 with 1 (ONE) try each side, whereas League will have tries galore, have a look at the cup games over the weekend or the Cardiff games last weekend.

You are the real peasant, whether you eat pies or not, or are you a vege?????????????????????????

  15. i'm from Oldham, and you don't get more Northern Working Class than that, and i've played Rugby Union all my life ... so don't throw us all in the same boat would you ... else we can just be as presumptive

why are Southerners, stuck so far up their own arses?

  16. League is a much tougher game and the Shandy drinkers can't hack it, then again there's many in London giving it a go and I hope they succeed.

Regards Union being flowing are you having a laugh ?

I know we lost and I am gutted but what a game today against Saints - didn't flow at all ???????

  17. Probably because League has always been a working class game. People in the North of England were traditionally working class whereas Union was more of a middle class game played by doctors, accountants etc. from the South.

I think it still exists in some places but Union is not associated with the professional classes as much anymore. You can even see the difference between the two sets of supporters through commentators.

Personally I prefer Union because that's what's played in Limerick regardless of class. Though I hold nothing against League.

EDIT - Seb87 I wasn't trying to lump everyone in the same boat, it's just for the most part that's the way it was but I don't think it's as divided as it was before.
