Why do nuts have so much calories and fat?

Is there any reason as to why they contain so much fat?

  1. they have natural oils in them.. plus they are high in protein and carbs

    The unhealthy types of fats are saturated and trans-fats, while nuts contain healthy, unsaturated fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated).  

    These fats can be helpful in reducing cholesterol, improving your joints, and various other functions.

  3. I believe it comes from the oils. But most of the time, it is HEALTHY fat they contain that is actually good for your body.

  4. all nuts are seeds.  

    I'm not a biology major major but I'm guessing that since fatty acids are nutrient dense they provide plenty of energy for the seed to develop enough until the root system has developed to the point where it can obtain nutrients from soil.

    proteins and carbohydrates provide 4 calories per gram

    fats provide 9 calories per gram
