Why do office bulidings put the A/C on soooo HIGH??? don't they realize how bad it is???

my office building is BLASTING THE A/C.

everyone is freezing inside.. so since we're cold, the boss went out to get us all individual heaters for each of our offices. so now we've got the a/c on full blast and everyone's got mini office heaters that are on high too! we don't have control over the a/c.. it's set by the owner of the building.

why don't they put a normal temperature? isn't this really bad for the environment?? i know a lot of office buildings are like this and i know that we're not the only ones with personal heaters running simultaneously!

That's INSANE! And yes, It is horrible for the environment not to mention just plain stupid.

I'm really hoping there are others in your building thinking and saying the same things you are. You should put a copy of An Inconvienent Truth on the CEO's desk (after you watch it). If they wont turn up the thermostat then maybe he could buy everyone sweaters and warm socks and at least unplug the heaters! - that's insane!

I hate how people have become so dependent on artificial temperature. I live in FL and we don't use the A/C at all.

Can't you tip the owner then that a hella lot of energy & money is wasted due to it?

Modern world is so silly. We waste millions of dollars to avoid sweating - the natural (and nature friendly) way of dealing with heat. A/C doesn't make hot air disappear, it's just thrown somewhere else - plus the huge ammounts of electricty used in the process release heat too.
