Why do old people drive minivans?

Don't make fun of my grammar... Don't call me a racist-stereo-type towards geezers. Because I'm not. I just want a flat-out explanation towards; "Why old folk drive mini vans?" Because; based on what what I observed; "a ton of people "old" people; drive nothing but mini vans around my neighborhood. Thx

Why do you care?

It just has lots of room for people,

luggage and whatnot and its just plain practical.

I think because minivans look wholesome so old people prefer to drive it. And old people need to be comfortable anywhere including vehicles, so in minivans they can move more even if they carry some of their things with them in their minivans.

hahahahha SO TRUE. well, my moms pretty old. and she drives a minivan. . .  because 15 years ago, that minivan was new and I was still a young tyke.

lots of mini vans are old nowadays, and well, ust imagine where on earth the old people were 10-15 years ago ;)

That's just in your neighborhood. I see all kinds of people of every age driving vans all day long.

One other reason that has not been mentioned is that, the seats are higher off the floor than cars and are easier to get in and out of. The legs, joints and muscles are not as flexible as young whipper snappers or grasshoppers. So this is one main reason also.

1. They're big enough to carry their kids, grandkids and pets around

2. They have good visibility

3. They have heaps of space

4. Comfortable to drive

Basically, they're practical - although you'd never find me driving one...(although then again, when I'm older, I may be one of those people :P)

They are higher than most vehicles thus giving them better visibility, and they feel safer.

Here is something to consider...

Perhaps they are driving minivans or SUVs because they have back problems or mobility problems that make getting into and out of today's design of cars difficult.  

It's a lot easier to get into and out of a Saturn Vue with a bad back then it is to try to get in and out of a Hyundai Sonata.  The seats that are closer to hip height really help.
