Why do old people drive slow?

It is funny when a teenager is around driving so slow then you see an old lady and a snail is going faster than her she must have been a teenager sometime right?

Their reflexes slow down.  Everything ages.  Intellect, the body, the reflexes, the ability to think fast and react on your feet.

I think sometimes they just aren't with it and don't realize,or they think they are being safe but really they are a hazard

Elderly people tend to go slow for safety reasons.

You will do the exact same thing as you grow older.

The older a person gets, the more nervous they become when driving. They also have a harder time trying to focus on both the road, the speed, the radio, the other traffic. It is overwhelming for them.

Its probably because if they go to fast, they know that there reactions are slower therefore more likely to crash whereas a teenager can go faster because there reactions are faster.

As one gets older, one's eyesight, hearing, and reflexes are not as good as when one is younger.  Older individuals also tend to suffer from more aches, pains, arthritis, etc.  So, when one is older one is inclined to drive slower because they know that they can't respond as fast to traffic changes, traffic accidents, the peculiarities of other driver's habits.  

Perhaps it is also a psychological change: older people know that they don't have to speed to get places.  

Yes, driving too slow makes one a road hazard, and the police can cite slow drivers.  However, let's face it: most non-older people -- teenagers included -- tend to exceed the speed limit (isn't that breaking the law?) -- they seem to be in such a hurry to get places, but overall it doesn't make much of a difference in the time you save if you are driving in the city; if you are on the highway, it probably does make a minor difference, but you will be saving gas.  Accelerating to get around slower drivers actually uses lots of gas; if your car has a miles per gallon gauge that gives you real-time display of mpg, watch the gauge the next time you accelerate.  You will probably see a great drop in mpg (sometimes as low as 7 mpg) while accelerating.

I think its because half of them can't see over the steering wheel so they drive slow so they dont hit anybody. That or there smart and drive slow so all the crazy driver's pass them and then there out of harms way.

Older people have slower reaction times as younger people, so they drive slower to avoid accidents.  My mom does this and it drives me crazy.  i always tease her that she drives so slow that she will get a parking ticket while on the road.

they are driving safely dear, as long as they are not going below posted limits don't be bothered by them dear.

btw, posted limits means like when you see a sign that says 55 above, and 45 below, if they are driving below 45mph, that is against the law too and is dangerous to others on the highway.
