  1. it helps get the chlorine off of their bodies

  2. What you're talking about is called a 'shammy' not a towel.

It is very absorbant and compact.

Have you ever been to a diving meet or practice and noticed the divers using a small towel between dives, holding onto it as if their life depended on it? If you haven’t, take a closer look because this prized possession has become an integral part of every diver’s equipment. Commonly known as a “shammy,” these aqua towels come in a variety of colors, sizes, styles, and names, allowing divers to dry off between dives without having to carry around a bulky cloth towel.

A synthetic variation of a chamois cloth – the same kind used to wash cars; the shammy has evolved into much more than a method to dry off. For many divers a shammy becomes part of their psyche and of the ritual that each diver develops prior to every dive. So don’t forget your shammy when you head to the pool!

    I hope this helps.

    Enjoy!

  3. Divers need to keep their muscles warm between dives is what I have been told.  Showers and hot tubs are provided, but getting a warm wet towel helps too.
