The temperature of the air is colder than the temperature of the water they just left, so they shower to keep their muscles warm for their next event.

To warm their muscles up for their next performance, since the pool is cold

Because the temperature of the pool water is drastically different compared to the air temp, so they need to keep their muscles very warm in between rounds so that they dont freeze up and slow them down.
