Why do one keep their medical records ?

great question.  The medicos say it is to provide "continuity" of care- a quaint myth based on the assumption that your previous health problems somehow "cause" or "contribute to" your current illness.  Further, the medicos take the position that you cannot be relyed on to remember.  Personally, I think it is a way that the medicos can get more money out of the insurance companies-  "I'll need to send those records off to your insurance company=50.00 +.50 a page...
