without indicating and then look at you in disgust as if it would be your fault if they crashed into you when actually you are following the highway code and not lane swapping all over the place

  1. Because they are stupid bad drivers. Just like the other day when someone stopped on a Bad corner/ double yellow lines, then decided to pull out without even indicating. I had to slam my brakes on and HE just laughed at me out of the window. Yes and if I'd rammed into him it would've been MY FAULT. There are names for idiot drivers like him.

  2. are there straight broken lines on that road since it  only means that the car can overtake also, it sems you are in a high way if so, you musat be slowly running highway speeds here in the philippines is 80 to 120 KM/Hr. dont know if you're in Phils. or USA

P.S. also experienced that  too... i think it already a word war if applied to Philippine traffic law they say you're too slow if you seemed to be running  an enough high way speed etc..

  3. Yep. That happens to me all the time, I drive a smallish car and people in bigger cars seem to think I'm less important than them - arrgghh ! it gets me mad

  4. haha its coz you drive a beemer. Most BMW drivers think they own the road and drive like complete twats. Guess your just getting tarnished with the same brush I drive a Audi A4 and I dont experience this. Stick your finger up next time it happens and see how good you feel after.. ha..

  5. Wow !!! So you've got one of those cars that disappears at Islands and Junctions too !!! I thought I was the only one !!

I thought it was down to my Paint code!???!

  6. It seems most of the time that indicators are optional extras on cars, as they never get used!

Peoples driving disgusts me, and i think the driving test should be made a lot harder, and bad driving should result in heavier punishment.

Im a professional driver, and clock up around 2000 miles every week so i see it all.

The one thing that winds me up more than not indicating is hesitation.

  7. Remember one thing on the road if you want to survive-----nobody is right if you are in an accident.Defensive driving techniques (everyone should take the course )will ensure you do not get into these situations. You should not have let the circumstances develop as they did,you should be aware of your surroundings at all times and pre-empt any situation from putting you at risk. All the older truck drivers are aware of these facts and a lot of the more experienced and alert car drivers. There is an old saying----everything that happens to you ,is your fault for being there.ONLY those who are perfect can criticise and no--one is perfect.Any driver who says they never make mistakes is not only not self aware, they are dangerous.

  8. i had an incident the other day where a lady in a bmw

cut into my lane on a roundabout , and clipped my bumper.

she was adamant that it was all my fault i tried to explain to her that  she should have stayed in her lane until  she had left the roundabout. she had no idea,

not enough people drive to the highwaycode and check thier mirrors

  9. I bet that some of you in your driving career

    have done something similar,

Oh no we haven't you say, oh yes I say

have been driving for43yrs and everybody is innocent.

  10. It is very simple, they don't care and they don't know the rules of the road.

  11. My brother was a witness to a collision on a roundabout about a week ago. The driver in the white van on the inside lane didn't indicate and cut up a car when turning left and smashed into the car's offside wing. The van driver was obviously in the wrong because he not only failed to indicate but was also in the wrong lane. As he was out numbered 2 to 1 he had to finally admit that he was in the wrong.

  12. Yes I am sure my car goes into stealth mode once I switch on the engine!!

  13. .

James May - You are a disgrace to your profession!

As long as you have anticipated the situation and adjusted your speed and position correctly, then what another driver does is just that.

There are a multitude of reasons why a driver swaps lanes on a r/about w/out indicating: they may be unfamiliar to the area, distracted by a wasp sting, elderly, a new driver, have a mechanical problem, have a child in hospital emergency or simply just doesn't care etc.

You did not say whether you reacted or not, and I hope you didn't, but getting selfish and aggressive yourself wouldn't be a good attitude to have behind the wheel and serves no purpose.

And "teaching them a lesson" as our illustrious Grade 5 (maybe this was why you could not achieve a Grade 6?) James May suggests, is not constructive and can be dangerous.

Who hasn't made a mistake whist driving?

Of course you haven't JM, we know that! :-)

    Be tolerant and courteous.

Nice car, the BM, enjoy your drive!!!!!

    .

  14. They just dont know or care about the rules of the road!

  15. My husband has a word for them. But its a very long word made up of lots of shorter swear words. I cant drive, and even I know better than some of the people out there!

  16. The main reason you get 'cut up' is so the other driver can get there faster.

Yesterday, someone tried that ploy and crashed into the central reservation of an underpass. The only thing they will achieve is being early for their own funeral.

  17. Just make sure that you are in the correct lane and signalling your intention and always drive defensively.

  18. some people just don't have a clue, don't let them cut you up put your foot down.

If they hit you its there fault and if they don't they have leant a lesson.
