Why do other countries compete in the Olympics?

C'mon. No one has a chance against America and China and Russia is a Joke anymore. That's why they attacked Georgia. They were just trying to show the world that they are still a player in world politics, but they're not

The point of the games is to compete against the best athletes from all over the world.

I'm sure the althletes from Germany, Korea, Cuba, Australia, etc., who have already won gold medals would disagree with you.  They were the best in their disciplines on a world stage.
