Why do other drivers ride my bumper and then pass me only to slow down and turn at the upcoming exit/street?

It frustrates me beyond belief. It happened again today, and yes I DO go the speed limit, and even speed. I do drive a little white car. But this time when it happened the guy pulled into the same store parking lot as I did, I wanted to confront him about it but didn't know how to start off that conversation. What should I do?

They are more important than you.

Now, don't take this personally.  In that other driver's head, you are not a person, you are a car.  You're an obstacle to be dealt with.  And since you are not traveling at or faster than he wants to go, he will pass you so he does not have to alter his own behavior (even though it requires he alter his course in order to pass you).

I drive fairly slowly, generally the speed limit to a few miles under, and I'm seeing more and more people are NOT passing me because it burns a lot of fuel to whip around just to shave a few seconds off their travel time.  Who knew it took financial arm-twisting to make other drivers courteous?

Don't bother to confront anyone over this - you could be the most eloquent, persuasive speaker in the land and still not get through to them.

You don't need to say anything -arriving at the same destination or set of traffic lights at the same time is enough.

I drive on the continent a lot and there are certain countries where it is a national characteristic - they have to be in front, no matter what the risk or cost. There isn't a 'mentality' test for drivers - maybe there should be.

Maybe you should be laughing at this instead of being so serious.  I say the same thing about people passing me getting to work, they roar around me and get to work 5 minutes before I do, and what do they do, they get their first cup of coffee and turn their computer on and read their messages and then someone comes in their cube and talks for half and hour.  Its funny

as to why people do that. If i see someone in a little rice burner with the f**t can muffler i will ride their bumper and then pull up next to them just to *hopefully* smoke them in a little 0 to 40 race and try and teach them how annoying and unnecessary those glasspacks are. thats why i do it seldomly.

And seriously, dont confront anyone, you never know when you are gonna meet a pyscho that would gladly hit you or something
