  1. Because idiots like you can't seem to put questions in the right category.

  2. Cricket is unknown in North America. Most people wouldn't know what you were talking about if you asked them about it. There are several dozen other traditional professional sports that developed here over the past century or more that are light-years ahead of it. Soccer is also a barely-watched sport here.

  3. Namaste.

I am not from India and while I don't mind the sport of cricket, I do mind the insects that have the same name. They make it hard for me to get to sleep before 1am which is tiresome as I often get up at 5am.

  4. Its a different culture, they've grown up watching cricket with their families more than they have grown up watching cricket.

  5. I don't know. All I do know, is hockey is the BEST sport EVER created and will ALWAYS be the best sport!!!!

  6. I think you answered your own question.  Field hockey requires more stamina and skill, but most people don't have that type of stamina or skill, so people enjoy things they can excel at.

Since cricket (like baseball) is slow moving and requires less skill, people tend to play starting at an early age, and continue until later in life.  You see a similar trend everywhere in the U.S.  Parents push kids into baseball because there is less chance for injury.

This is why the vast majority of Americans hate (ice) hockey.  They know they can never learn to skate, stick handle, or shoot, so they dismiss it as a "dumb sport".  In addition, they don't want their children to play hockey, because it's too "violent".

I wish the brainiacs at Yahoo would create separate ice and field hockey categories.

Hockey (the kind played on ice) is the best sport, in my opinion.

  7. It requires more money too. I don't want to sound like a biggot here but that's why you don't see many Black's either in Hockey. It's a h**l of a lot cheaper to play Basketball or baseball. Same goes for swimmers, you have to have a pool.

  8. india, i dunno/care

  9. Alot of indian youngsters like hockey.. me being one.. cricket though is really underestimated in north america and no one really knows much about its just prejudged... you can't judge the difficulty if you have never played it COMPETIVELY.. I havn't but all I have to say is cricket is known as the second most popular sport in the world so most people would choose cricket over hockey... not that I would of course :P

  10. I agree.  Hockey is a much better game than cricket (field or ice).
