  1. this due to the change in the atmospheric pressure which affects the air cavity inside the ear

  2. Ours ears feel funny because of the diffrence in atmospheric pressure, when we go up at high speeds the pressure changes at a very fast rate, thus making our ears feel very werid, like there 'closed.'

  3. because the rapid decrease or increase in the barometric pressure causes you eardrum to bulge inward or out ward thus causing you to have the funny sensation

  4. You have an air-filled cavity in your inner ear.  As you go up, the pressure outside goes down, but the air in the cavity does not.  So with more pressure inside than outside, there is a net outward push in your ear, which "feels funny" until your ears pop (the seal isn't perfect thankfully) and the pressures equalize.  And it goes in reverse on the way down.

If it bothers you, there are lots of ways to make your ears pop.  You can hold your nose and blow out very softly until the seal breaks.  Chewing gum loosens the seal enough to keep the pressure from building up in the first place.
