  1. Elton Brown's show taught me that if you light a candle or gas stove and cut an onion next to it, the flame helps get rid of the fumes. I didn't listen to the science part of it, but I have tried it several times and it works.

  2. Here. go to this website. I think it will help. It should tell you everything that you need to know. Good luck.   http://www.dance.net/topic/7373412/1/Foo...

  3. chewing gum and rinsing your hands, the knife and cutting board in cold water will stop the tears.I dont know why this works it just does

  4. REFRIGERATE

  5. There is a mild form of hydrochloric acid that mists out from them that affects the eyes.

    tips

Use an extremely sharp knife and slice rather than chop.

Refrigerate for 30-60 minutes before slicing.

  6. If you keep your mouth closed while cutting it helps.  If you cut them inside a walk in freezer, your eyes will not tear.  If your eyes are burning, stick your head into the freezer [don't detach it from your body  ;-)  ] to take the burn away.

  7. Try turning on a fan to blow the fumes away. Or cut the onions under your range hood.

  8. my boyfriend keeps a tea spoon in his mouth while cutting onions! he says it work...in fact his eyes never water! Try =)
